Marie A. Vlies

Marie A. Vlies, 97, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2026.

Born on February 5, 1929, to the late Alex and Malvina (Chaudoir) Parins. Marie graced our lives with her warmth, kindness, and unforgettable spirit. Marie married the love of her life, Joseph F. Vlies Jr., on September 24, 1946, he preceded her in death in June of 1984.

She was a dedicated worker at Algoma Plumbers, but her true calling was as a full-time homemaker. Marie cherished countless trips up north to her beloved land. She loved tending to her plants and seeing and listening to the birds.

She found joy in the simple things—like coloring, country music and polka music, dancing and going to the hodags. She enjoyed traveling to different destinations, as well as going on gambling trips. Her most special times were spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed watching mass on TV along with watching Polka Polka.

Marie is survived by her children, James (Gaye) Vlies, Green Bay; Joseph Vlies III, Casco; Cindy Vlies, Casco; Becky (Joe) Hietpas, De Pere; grandchildren, Michelle (Todd) Dorner, Kevin Vlies, Ken (Gena) Vlies) Jr, Dustin Vlies, Jessica (Don) Paral, Laura Vlies, Jeff (Pepe) Vlies, Todd (Missy) Vlies, Amy (Dean) Laluzerne, Jennifer Vlies, Autum (Andy) Noskowiak, Tyler (McKenzie) Zima, Scott (Megan) Hietpas, Heidi (Ryan) Schaefer; 30 great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Jeannie Vlies, Marcia Vlies; sisters-in-law, Carol Parins, Mary Ann Bader; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Vlies Jr.; children, Patricia (Vlies) Groy, Kenneth “Cowboy” Vlies, Ronald Vlies; grandchildren, Timothy and Elizabeth; brothers, Alex Parins Jr, James Parins; and sister, Bernice (George) Guilette.

Marie was truly sweet and gracious until the very end. She will forever hold a special place in our hearts, and her absence leaves a profound void in our lives. We extend our deepest gratitude to Unity Hospice, especially Ashley, Jenny, Amy, and all those who provided loving care to Mom.

A visitation will take place on Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 1:00-3:00 pm at Kinnard Funeral & Cremation Services – Casco, with a prayer service at 3:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Monday, June 1, 2026, from 9:00 – 10:15 AM at St. Peter Catholic Church – Lincoln. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 am with Msgr. Jim Dillenburg officiating. Entombment will follow at the Shrine of the Good Shepard Mausoleum.
