Betty Lou V. Carlson, 96, of Sister Bay, passed away on May 26, 2026, at Door County Medical Center.
She was born on November 25, 1929, the daughter of Frank and Floy (Sitte) Fandrei. Betty was married to Harry Carlson who preceded her in death on April 3, 1993.
Betty was a homemaker who always seemed to be caring for someone. Whether it was her grandsons that came up for summer jobs or her grandchildren that lived nearby, there was always someone around to keep Betty on her toes. The great-grandchildren followed close behind and enjoyed equally special times with Betty.
Later, when Betty's mother needed care, Betty welcomed her into her home. After her mother passed, Betty volunteered at Bargains Unlimited in Sister Bay. Whether you called her mom, mum, ma, or Grandma Betts, she was loved deeply.
In her later years, Betty moved in with her daughter, Julie, who gave her wonderful care. Betty and Julie spent countless hours playing cards, games, working on art projects, listening to music, going for drives and enjoying the abundance of nature around them. Betty especially enjoyed the deer, birds, and many other creatures that gathered at Julie's outdoor table to eat.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Casperson Funeral Home, 2594 S. Bay Shore Dr, Sister Bay, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Betty will be laid to rest at Ellison Bay Cemetery.
Betty will be missed by her daughters, Shirlee (Kris) Jacobs, Keri (Troy) Johnson, and Julie Carlson; grandchildren, Michael Dahlstrom, James (Tammy) Voeks, Amie Olson, Per Carlson, Seth (Diana) Carlson, Kayle Johnson and Dayton Johnson; seven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Jacqui Rooney. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sons, James and Steven; daughter-in-law, Kate Carlson; brother, Ted (Judy) Fandrei; sisters, JoAnn (Donald) Johnson and Marilyn (Glen) Erickson; and brother-in-law, Vince Rooney.
