Vicki L. Polcen, 68 of Sturgeon Bay, passed away with her family by her side on Tuesday afternoon, June 30, 2026.
She was born on September 6, 1957 in Algoma, daughter of the late Marlin and Norma (Petry) Kay. Vicki was a graduate of Southern Door High School with the class of 1975. She attended Northeast Wisconsin Technical College and received an associate’s degree in hospitality and tourism management. Vicki was employed for many years at The Lodge at Leathem Smith in Sturgeon Bay. She loved cooking and baking and paired her love of antiquing by collecting many kitchen themed treasures. Vicki also enjoyed art and gardening.
Survivors include her two children: Adam (Melissa) Polcen, Sussex and Amanda (Clint Rodd) Polcen, Sturgeon Bay; her fiancé: Melvin Thunander, also of Sturgeon Bay; seven grandchildren: Jack, Alexis, Alaina, David, Jordyn, Everett, and Madalyn; three brothers and one sister: Michael Kay, Cadott, Thomas (Christine) Kay, Forestville, Linda (Mark) DeKeyser, Brussels & Paul (Judy) Kay, Forestville. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Marlin and Norma Kay; one brother: David Kay; and one sister: Patsy Kay.
Visitation for Vicki will be held on Monday afternoon, July 6, 2026 from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Forbes Funeral Home & Cremations, 319 W Spruce St. Funeral services will follow at 5:00 PM officiated by Chaplain Mark Richards with Unity Hospice. Cremation will take place after services and Vicki will be laid to rest at a later date.
