Marion L Volkmann, 92, of Egg Harbor, peacefully passed away on Saturday August 8, 2026, at Sturgeon Bay Health and Rehab Center. She was born on December 29, 1933, to Wallace and Evelyn (Lane) Utter in Marinette, WI. She was a life-long resident of Door County, except for a 23-month stay in Brillion, WI. Marion attended the Egg Harbor Grade School, Gibraltar High School for two years, and then graduated from Sevastopol High School. Marion married the love of her life Lester Volkmann on February 10, 1951, and was blessed with six children: Wallace (Wally) Volkmann, Dennis L. Volkmann, Rebecca Volkmann, Denise Greene, Renee Wautier, and Karl Volkmann. After her marriage, she became a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in West Jacksonport where she was a very active member. She served as a Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher, Choir member and was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever and however needed. Marion was always busy with life, being a mom and homemaker first and foremost, and helping run the family farm. She was also a very successful sales lady for Avon products for many years and cultivated many friendships along the way. In the fall of 1971, she became the first female bus driver for Sevastopol School District and went on to have a 25 year long career. She was very highly respected as a bus driver and was frequently told by former students how much they and their children loved her as their bus driver. She was also a great seamstress making, repairing, and adjusting garments for herself, family, and friends. On one occasion, she made a dress for herself for one of her children’s weddings. Two days before the event, she decided she didn’t like it, so she made a new dress and it looked just beautiful. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Lester, sons, Dennis and Wallace and grandson Michael Petitti. She was also proceeded in death by her siblings Anna Mae Utter (Vertz), Francis Utter (Bley), Eugene Utter and Arlin Utter. She is survived by her children, Rebecca Volkmann, Denise (Paul) Greene, Renee Wautier and Karl Volkmann (Lori Dewitz); six grandchildren, Shannon (Chris) Fahey, Shawn Wautier, Shane (Amanda) Wautier, Shelby (Kristen) Wautier, Joseph Boutwell, and Dennis (Ashley) Volkmann; along with eight great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, August 14, 2026, at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in West Jacksonport. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 4-7:00 pm at Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay, WI and on Friday at the church from 9:30 am until the time of service. Burial to follow at the Egg Harbor Town Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Sturgeon Bay Health and Rehab for the wonderful care provided to Marion during her stay.
