Donald Charles Krueger, 90, of Forestville, was called Home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. He was born December 5, 1935 in Sturgeon Bay, the son of Henry Fred Krueger and Leona (Malvitz) Krueger. Don graduated from Algoma High School in 1954 and was initially employed with Algoma Hardwoods until he was drafted to serve his country with the United States Army, entering into active service on July 28, 1958. He served in Korea during part of his military service and was honorably discharged from the Army on June 16, 1960. When he returned home, Don joined the Army Reserves and served for an additional 28 years. Through his military service, he was recognized as a Marksman with both the rifle and carbine and also earned a Good Conduct Medal. Upon his return home, he started working for Newman Construction out of Sturgeon Bay for several years before starting his own business, Don Krueger Builders. Don married Carol Eva Schley on April 14, 1967 in Forestville. To this union was born one son, Todd. He was a longtime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Forestville where he served on several committees. Don was a charter member of the Door County Home Builders Association. He was an avid Milwaukee Brewers fan, and loved spending time in his garden, tending to his vegetables, but his greatest joy was spending time with his granddaughter, Katie. He and Carol were blessed to share over 50 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on December 29, 2017. Don will be deeply missed by his granddaughter, Katie Krueger of Green Bay; daughter-in-law, Janice Krueger of Luxemburg; sisters-in-law, Nila Schley of Maplewood and Carol Krueger of Kewaunee; nieces and nephews, Nancy Schmiling, David Krueger, Debbie Krueger, Brenda Bolley, Brian Krueger, and Janelle Krueger, and Stacy Leonard, Mike Schley, and Shelly Van Den Bogart; great-nieces and great-nephews; other relatives; and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Todd (2023); and siblings, Jane (Henry) Schmiling, Maxine (Clifford) Kroening, Duane "Bud" (Lorraine) Krueger, Dale (Jean) Krueger, and Marvin Krueger; brother-in-law, Robert Schley; and other relatives. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 316 W. Main Street, Forestville, WI 54213 with Rev. Dr. Christopher Jackson officiating. Don will be laid to rest beside his wife, Carol, in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery with military honors by the United States Army and the George W. Goetz Forestville American Legion Post 372. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. "Our family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Jane Clarke and everyone who cared for Don over the years, especially the medical staffs from Algoma and Door County."
