Gerald "Jerry" David Kiehnau, 88, formerly of Sturgeon Bay, was called home to be with the Lord, Thursday morning, August 20, 2026 while at Patient Pines Assisted Living in the Village of Bellevue with his daughter at his side. He was born September 16, 1937 in Sturgeon Bay, the son of Allen August Kiehnau and Evelyn Alba (Peters) Kiehnau. Growing up on the family farm on County Road G in the Town of Egg Harbor, Jerry attended Sunny Point School in the Town of Egg Harbor and St. John Ev. Lutheran in Valmy. He graduated from Sevastopol High School with the class of 1955. Jerry initially worked as a carpenter and cabinet maker for Les Meyer for eight years. He was employed with Palmer Johnson Yachts as a carpenter and loftsman foreman for 34 years full-time and four years part-time. Jerry helped build numerous boats and yachts with Palmer Johnson. He loved his job and the great friendships he made there. Jerry met Mary Ann Kohlbeck on a blind date, and they were united in marriage on October 10, 1959 at her home church, Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay. Over the years, he built three of his family's homes, and he and Mary resided in Sturgeon Bay, Nasewaupee and then in Sturgeon Bay. Jerry was a longtime member of Salem Ev. Lutheran Church in the Town of Nasewaupee where he served as an usher. His passion for carpentry and woodworking had him remodeling homes, building kitchen cabinets, furniture, framing pictures, and "making things" in his woodworking shop for his children, grandchildren, relatives, and friends. Jerry had a great eye for detail and was very much a perfectionist. He took great pride in his home and his family. Jerry enjoyed playing cards, usually with his coworker friends from Palmer Johnson, so he made sure to get to work early enough to get a good game in. He and Mary also had a card club they enjoyed after retirement. He purchased his first snowmobile, a Ski-Doo in 1970 and enjoyed riding with the Ridge Riders, family and friends in Southern Door. Jerry liked polka music - listening to it, dancing, and watching on TV. He was recognized around town for his appearances on the Polka Polka show. Those who knew Jerry, knew he was not a man of many words. Some described him as the role model of a true gentleman. Jerry was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Providing for his family was his top priority. Jerry's faith provided a foundation for his life. He will be remembered as a kind and loving man who was blessed with many dear friendships and was loved by all who knew him. Jerry will be missed by his children, Randall "Randy" (Mary) Kiehnau of the Town of Brussels, Terry (Debbie) Kiehnau of the Town of Little Suamico, and Kim (Steven) Conjurske of the Town of Brussels; grandchildren, Jeremy Kiehnau (special friend, Heather), Kevin Kiehnau, Jonathan Conjurske, and Sarah (Joseph) Glasheen; great-grandchildren, Haley Birschbach, Jocelyn, and Bentley Kiehnau, and Jameson, Alistair, and Reuben Glasheen; sister, Judith Cote of Sturgeon Bay; siblings-in-law, Ellen Kiehnau of the Town of Egg Harbor, Lenore Kohlbeck of Luxemburg, and Joe Kohlbeck of Sheboygan; nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Allen Kiehnau, and Paul (Leann) Kiehnau; siblings-in-law, Rubert (Jackie) Kohlbeck, Carol (Herman) Splingaire, John Kohlbeck, Jerome "Jerry" Cote, Ruth (Dale) Buschmann, and Joanne (Loney) Teich; and other relatives. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at Salem Ev. Lutheran Church in the Town of Nasewaupee, 3339 County Road MM, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235 with Pastor Tod Vertz officiating. Jerry will be laid to rest beside his wife, Mary, in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum at Nicolet Memorial Gardens in the Town of Scott. Visitation for family and friends will be held after 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at Huehns Funeral Home, 1414 Michigan Street, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235 with a Devotion to conclude the evening at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Wednesday, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. Memorials may be given in Jerry's name for the Alzheimer's Association (MAIL TO: Bellevue Office, 2563 Development Drive, Green Bay, WI 54311); or Salem Ev. Lutheran Church.
