Matthew W. Zelten, 51, Kewaunee, passed away at home on Thursday, August 27, 2026. He was born on March 3, 1975, to Bert and Kim (Dorn) Zelten. Matt married Leah Meinders on April 21, 2023. Matt served his county in the United States Air Force for 9 ½ years. This included tours overseas in Saudia Arabia and Bahrain. Matt was a member of the Alaska Golf Club and enjoyed spending his free time playing darts, bowling, and golfing. He also loved singing karaoke and, more than anything, making people smile and laugh. Matt had a wonderful sense of humor and was always ready with a joke or a smart comment, especially when someone was having a bad day. Matt is survived by his wife, Leah Zelten; his parents, Bert and Kim Zelten; his son, Jordan (significant other, Bethany) Zelten, of New Orleans; stepsons, Blake Meinders, Ronnie (significant other, Kaitlyn) Hunt, Tristan (significant other, Caitlin) Hunt; grandchildren, Jayda and Wyatt; brother, Adam (significant other, Marissa) Zelten; grandmother, Shirley Zelten; Aunts and Uncles, Chery Dorn, Steven (Mary) Dorn, Jim (Wanda) Dorn, Michael (Helen) Dorn, Mark (Francine) Zelten, Terry (Tom) Lischka, Tammy (significant other, Mike) Zelten; nephew, Archer; special family friend, Chyann; cousins, Eric, Stacey, Jessica, Jamie, Samantha, Ryan, Benjamin, and Alisha; and father-in-law, Jack Meinders. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Darlene Dorn; Grandfather Jerome Zelten; mother-in-law, Joyce Dixon; and Aunt Lori Dorn. A visitation will take place Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Kinnard Funeral & Cremation Services, Kewaunee. Funeral Service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pat Ratajczak officiating. Full Military Rites will follow outside with Kewaunee American Legion Post 29.
