Michele K. Tahlier, 74, Algoma, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 1st, 2026, at home with her loving family by her side. She was born July 17th, 1952, in Algoma to Milton and Doris (Hartel) Duerst. Michele attended Algoma High School, later earned her GED and furthered her education at NWTC earning an accounting degree. Michele later married Michael Tahlier on June 19th, 1993 with their families by their side. Michele was a very caring, loving and accepting person. She started volunteering at the Violence Intervention Project a few years before she was hired as an advocate to help victims of violence. She worked there for 17 years, retiring in 2014. Michele loved and cherished her time with family and friends, had many hobbies, including knitting and crocheting, Harley rides and took many bike trips around the country while still volunteering and being an advocate for victims of violence. She was a member of the Red Hatters for many years and a also a member and leader of the Christian Motorcycle Association since 2014. Michele is survived by her children, Bryan (Nancy) Duerst; Anne (Devon) Allen and their family Cherity (Steve) Seiler - Dylan, Sarah Paque - Avalyn and Abel, Craig Paque Jr.; Christin Engelking; April Deringer (Howard) - Baylen, and family Rayanne Caudle - Deziray, Annaray, Matthew, Oleana, Otto, Redlee, Atticus; Justice Engelking - Hunter; William Ouradnik; Anton Sahm; Richard Engelking (Cheyanne) - Deringer, Legacy; Jordon Deringer (Kourtney) Liam; Bonus daughters Jessie (Kenny) Malcore - Michael, Bailey, Bree; Michelle "Mickie" (David) Bouche; siblings Marie Stuebs, Marilyn LaViolette, Monica Larson, Madonna (Bernie) VandenAvond, Melinda Thor, Tim (Brenda) Duerst, Margie (Larry) Kadletz and Tom (Teresa) Duerst; In-laws Luann Kellner, Peggy Tahlier, Jerry (Lisa) Tahlier and Duane (Julie) Tahlier as well as many other family and friends. Preceded in death by her husband Michael Tahlier, great granddaughter Oaklee Engelking, father and mother Milton and Doris Duerst, father and mother-in-law, Gerald Sr. and Donna Tahlier, brothers-in-law Dick Stuebs, Fred Thor, Brian Kellner. Per Michele's wishes, she would like people attending funeral services to wear bright colored clothing as she was a bright and beautiful person. Also, as she loved Harley rides, please ride your bikes as a tribute and in honor of her memory. We would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Jaslowski and all the nurses and staff at Green Bay Oncology and Door County Memorial Hospital for their exceptional care. Also thank you to Unity Hospice for the compassionate care they provided and to all who made Mike and Michele meals or helped support them in any way over the last couple years going through cancer treatments.
