David P. Derenne

Categories: Obituaries

David Peter Derenne, age 77, of Green Bay, passed away on Sunday November 1, 2026, at his home. Born on September 28, 1949, in Kewaunee, WI, Dave was a beloved son of Clement J. and Teresa M. (Van Den Berg) Derenne. He grew up on his family’s dairy farm in Denmark, WI, and graduated from Denmark High School in 1967. He worked as a cheesemaker at Steve’s Cheese after high school and served in the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Specialist 5 (SP5) in the United States Army. He was very proud of his service and earned the Army Commendation Medal and the Bronze Star. After his time in the military, he worked as an apprentice with his uncle, Goldie Derenne, learning the insurance business.

He married Cynthia J. Pepin on October 13, 1973, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Pine Grove, and they settled in Dyckesville, WI, where they lived, worked, and raised their four children until he retired in 2007. Throughout his life, Dave was known for his outgoing, friendly, and talkative nature, his deep dedication to his work, his compassion and willingness to help others, and his love for his family. He instilled in his children respect for a strong work ethic and the importance of always being willing to do the right thing. He was an active member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Dyckesville throughout his life, and spent many years involved in the local American Legion and Knights of Columbus. He also was active with the Dycksville Lions Club, organizing and managing their annual blood drive for many years. He represented American Family Insurance as an agent for 35 years, where he enjoyed working with the community and supporting his policyholders through life events. Outside of work, Dave found joy in spending time with his family, helping aging relatives, and traveling throughout the US. He was particularly passionate about cheering for Wisconsin sports teams, and was an avid fan of football, basketball and baseball. He was a proud season ticket holder for the Green Bay Packers, and we’re all so happy he was finally able to see the Brewers win the pennant and the World Series in 2026.

Dave is survived by Cindy, his wife of 53 years, his daughter Jennifer Derenne of San Francisco CA, his son Brian (Karina) Derenne of Eagle WI, and his son Jon Derenne of Madison WI. He is also survived by his brothers, sisters and brothers and sisters in law: Mary Cavanaugh, Dan (Nancy) Derenne, Janice (Mike) Mansfield, Steve (Barb) Derenne, Ron (Tina) Derenne all of Green Bay, Terri (Tom) Hauterbrook of Sturgeon Bay, Judy Davidson and Michelle (Joe) Menard of Escanaba, MI, Janet Charon of Kenosha, and Andy Anderson of Silverdale, WA, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Charles Derenne, his infant daughter Amy, his son Craig, and many aunts, uncles, and in laws.
