AgCast Conversation: Duane Ducat

January 21st, 2021 12:00am

Deer Run Dairy owner Duane Ducat has been experimenting with different cover crops over the years to reduce the amount of tillage in their fields and fostering healthier soils. One approach is planting multiple species of cover crops together in one field in preparation for a new crop going in or one on the way out. Ducat discusses this evolving practice with DCDN's Tim Kowols.

AgCast Conversation: Chris Schneider

January 21st, 2021 12:00am

Chris Schneider has been on the job long enough in Door and Kewaunee Counties to know that in agriculture, you have to be along for the ride. Prices have been up and down in recent years, but data from the United States Department of Agriculture shows they have not rebounded from highs in 2014. Add in the impact of COVID-19, overproduction, and higher production costs, farmers have not been able to reinvest in their farm to improve their equipment or land management strategies. Schneider talks about how farm lending has changed with DCDN's Tim Kowols.

AgCast Conversation: Adam Barta

January 21st, 2021 12:00am

Rio Creek Feed Mill agronomist Adam Barta says farmers should be thanking Mother Nature for the help in 2020, making the harvest less stressful and giving them more time to address other needs in their fields. Barta shares that good news with DCDN's Tim Kowols
