Packers soar past Falcons 34-20

The Green Bay Packers scored 34 unanswered points in a 34-20 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday at Lambeau Field.

After giving up the opening score, the Packers scored a touchdown on its opening drive to even the score at 7-7. Sandwiched between two field goals by Mason Crosby was an interception returned for a touchdown by Bashaud Breeland. Third quarter touchdowns by Randall Cobb through the air and Aaron Jones on the ground put the game out of reach for the Packers, even though Falcons did score two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to make it a little bit closer.

Sunday marked the first game not led by former head coach Mike McCarthy since 2006 and the first win for interim head coach Joe Philbin since he coached the Miami Dolphins in 2015. Though still mathematically alive in the wild card, the Chicago Bears 15-6 victory over the Los Angeles Rams officially ended NFC North title hopes for the Packers.
