Kewaunee wrestling storms past Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol 71-6

The Kewaunee Storm topped Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol 71-6 in the first Packerland Conference match of the season for the two teams.

Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol battled with only seven wrestlers, virtually putting a team victory out of reach before the first whistle even blew. Kewaunee's Travis Reinke dealt Jeremy Jorns only his second loss of the season in a close 3-1 decision at 182 pounds. Jason Reinke followed suit with a 4-0 decision one weight class later followed by a pin by Paul Wery at 285. Kewaunee also picked Austin Veeser and Mason Jeanquart also had back to back pins at 138 pounds and 145 pounds while Jack Severin picked up a 17-2 technical fall. Peyton Hurth got the only win on the evening for Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol on a first period pin.

Area wrestling Friday night includes a matchup of two of the state's most successful programs when Luxemburg-Casco hits the road to battle Coleman.  On Saturday teams in Door and Kewaunee counties are on the move to tournaments as the Spartans head back on the road and join Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol to wrestle at Little Chute, Southern Door goes to Cedar Grove-Belgium, and Kewaunee battles at Manawa.
