A Sturgeon bay man experienced a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Eric Murrock got to go 125 MPH on the Road Atlanta Racetrack. It all got started when he made a post on the Track Midwest Facebook Group saying he wanted to ride on the Road America track in Elkhart Lake, WI. That didn’t end up working out but he was then contacted by someone from Road Atlanta, saying if he could get his car down there, that that would drive him. So that’s what Eric did.
Professional drivers did laps with him as a passenger. Murrock was driven in his own car which is a Volkswagon R32 with a quite a few upgrades on it. He also drove in a Porsche GT3, which is where they topped out at 125 MPH. Eric described what it was like to ride.
Eric had an accident in July of 2010, which resulted in him having no movement below his chest and limited mobility with the hands and fingers. He tries to not let that stop him from chasing his dreams and doing what he wants. Eric plans to go to other racetracks in the Midwest and go even faster than he did in Atlanta.
