Sturgeon Bay remembers past game against Oconto

Sturgeon Bay girls basketball head coach Erik Tauschek remembers his team’s last matchup against Oconto as a missed opportunity. The Clippers led by 11 with just over three minutes left to play in the first half, but could not finish the game out and ended up falling to the Blue Devils 67-49. Although Tauschek’s squad held Oconto star Mara Allen to just 15 points underneath, the Blue Devils were able to find enough scoring elsewhere to make the comeback and seal away the victory. Sturgeon Bay will get a second chance at taking a victory off of Oconto this Monday at home. Tauschek said he still plans on stopping Allen on Monday but will show an increased focus on making sure there is sound defense away from the post as well.

Sturgeon Bay is 1-15 on the season, but have made large strides in the last few weeks. The last two games for the Clippers have both been close contests, with Sturgeon Bay staying within a five-point deficit each game.
