Lady Spartans cruise to easy 64-25 win over Marines on WBDK

The Luxemburg-Casco girls kept their hopes alive for a conference championship by dominating the Marinette Marines 64-25 in a North Eastern Conference game Saturday afternoon in Luxemburg.  After Marinette scored the first basket, the Spartans went on a 10-0 run and eventually went into halftime with a 33-9 lead.

L-C Coach Jeff Jodar was able to rest his starters much of the second half as the Spartans cruised to an easy win.  Playing three games in four days the L-C will have Sunday off before playing Monday night against Waupaca.  If the Spartans prevail against the Comets, they will claim a share of the North Eastern Conference championship with Freedom and Wrightstown.

The Spartans had three players in double figures with Cassie Schiltz scoring 16, while Jenna Jorgenson added 13 and Freshman Lauren Adams dropping in ten points.

The WIAA girls Division II basketball regional tournament will start next week and the #1 seeded Spartans (15-2, 17-4) will host Tuesday's winner of the Seymour and Menasha matchup on Friday night at 7pm in Luxemburg.  You can listen to all Spartan playoff games on 96.7FM WBDK and streamed on DoorCountyDailyNews.com.

The next broadcast of Spartan basketball on WBDK will be the boys game on Thursday night when L-C hosts Oconto Falls to close out the regular season.  Pregame will be at 7 pm with tip-off at about 7:15 pm.
