Smerchek keeps wrestlers on the mat

After the mats are rolled up at the Kohl Center this weekend, former Luxemburg-Casco heavyweight state champion Newton Smerchek is making sure the wrestling season truly never ends. Smerchek, along with Luxemburg-Casco coaches George Jimenez and Trevor Spude, helps run the Titletown Wrestling Club based in De Pere. For a small fee a practice, wrestlers from across the area train together on Monday nights to help perfect their craft year round. Smerchek says it is important to get the extra mat time when you can.

After graduating from Central Michigan University last year, Smerchek helped coached the West De Pere football and wrestling teams as he looks for a full-time job in teaching. You can learn more about the Titletown Wrestling Club online by clicking here
