Marquette could crack top-10

They get nowhere near the amount of love that the Wisconsin Badgers do inside their own state, but Marquette Basketball is turning heads. The 11th ranked Golden Eagles won again Wednesday night 79-69 at home. After trailing by one to Butler at half time, Marquette outscored the Bulldogs by 11 points in the second half.

Markus Howard led all scorers with 28 points. Theo John had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Butler was led by Sean McDermott's 27 points.

If the Golden Eagles beat unranked Providence Saturday it is very possible that the program will be in the top 10 national rankings. The real test for Steve Wojciechowski's team will be next Wednesday when they match up with #17 Villanova at 8:00 PM CST.
