Area wrestlers successful in opening round

Wrestling teams from Door and Kewaunee Counties only lost one of their own Thursday night in Madison during the opening round of the WIAA Individual State Wrestling Tournament. Luxemburg-Casco’s Bryce Bosman kept his bid for a fourth straight title with a second period pin at 132 pounds. The Spartans’ Lucas Joniaux also advanced with a second period pin while Nathan Ronsman and Colton Worachek collected decisions. For Kewaunee, Travis Reinke won his match by a 6-2 decision at 170 pounds while teammate Paul Wery lost a close 4-2 match at 195 pounds. Luxemburg-Casco’s Reece Worachek, Kewaunee’s Jack Severin, and Southern Door’s Grant Englebert will get their first action of the state tournament when wrestling starts up again at the Kohl Center Friday morning.
