Phoenix women go for NCAA berth Tuesday morning

Another crack at Wright State is the reward after a nailbiting 55-53 Green Bay Phoenix women's basketball win over Youngstown State Monday afternoon. The Phoenix defense was able to hold the Penguins to 32 percent from the field, but it could not get stops from behind the arc as they gave up 13 three-pointers. The Phoenix weathered the storm thanks to forcing 13 turnovers and going over 80 percent from the free throw line. Frankie Wurtz led the Phoenix with 13 points with Meghan Pingel chipping in 11 points in the win.

For the 10th straight year, the Phoenix find themselves in the Horizon League Tournament Championship with an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. They will face the top-seeded Raiders at 11 a.m. at the Little Caesar's Arena in Detroit after splitting their two previous matchups this season.
