Phoenix fall in Horizon League championship game

For the first time in over two decades, no Horizon League championship banners of any kind will be hung for the Green Bay Phoenix women's basketball team.

After falling a game short of sharing the regular season championship with Wright State, the Phoenix lost to the Raiders in the tournament title game 55-52. The Phoenix started out hot, but went ice cold in the second quarter to end the half down 27-16. Rising from ashes, the Phoenix stormed back to take the lead in the fourth quarter before giving up another big Raider run. Tied with just over 90 seconds remaining, the Raiders would retake a lead they would not give up again. Mackenzie Wolf led the Phoenix with 10 points.

An injury-riddled season for the Phoenix will likely see a new beginning after the NCAA Tournament field is announced with the team's first WNIT bid in five years a real possibility.
