Though unlikely to start this week due to melting snow and recent rains, baseball and softball seasons are technically underway this week in Door and Kewaunee Counties.
Monday marks the first day of practice for local baseball teams. Sturgeon Bay hopes to win another conference title as they went 9-1 in the shortened season. Gibraltar was the team that experienced the most amount of postseason success last year, making the sectional semi-final against Laconia after beating Kewaunee and Algoma by a combined score of 23-1.
On the softball diamond, Kewaunee is scheduled to get the first local softball action of the year with a trip to Chilton. Though not officially canceled or postponed yet, the Storm's season will likely see some kind of delay as the entire state waits to dry out.
