Before a single pitch is even thrown in this year's WIAA Baseball Playoffs, Gibraltar has already punched its ticket to the second round.
Officials from Gresham High Schools alerted Gibraltar athletic director Peggy Tanck earlier this week that they would be forfeiting Thursday's game. The Vikings will now keep a close eye on the NEW Lutheran/Lena-St. Thomas Academy matchup to learn where they will be playing next week.
Other WIAA playoff matchups scheduled for Thursday include Kewaunee heading to Southern Door, Sturgeon Bay hosting Algoma, Sevastopol traveling to Bowler, and Luxemburg-Casco playing at Denmark.
