LEMMENS OUTLASTS STOCK CAR FIELD TO WIN AT THE HILL
5/26/19 Race Report- A total of 101 cars checked in to do battle at the Hill Raceway for the first night of the season brought to you by Quantum PC Services. Our next event will be on Saturday June 22.
Luke Lemmens jumped from his front row starting spot to the lead on lap 1 of the Stock Car feature as Jeremy Anschutz, Larry Karcz Jr and Zach Spangenberg gave chase. Lemmens ran tight to the tires as Spangenberg gave chase up top. Karcz worked the low groove right to the back bumper of Lemmens. Several times Karcz got under the rear quarter panel of the leader but couldn’t find enough room for the pass. Spangenberg closed in late but Lemmens wouldn’t be denied, riding the low groove all the way to victory lane. It was also a clean sweep for Lemmens. Karcz was second, Spangenberg crossed the checkers third but failed post-race tech. John Adams, Jeremy Anschutz and John Anschutz completed the top five.
Craig Dorner dominated the Sport Mod feature, leading all 20 laps en route to victory. Chris Budzban made a late race charge to place second. Jarred VanLaanen was third, Tailar Ness placed fourth and Aaron Butterbrodt was the biggest mover, moving up 10 spots to round out the top five. The race went green to checker.
Allen Dillon paced the opening laps of the Street Stock main event until Chase Solomon raced by on lap 9. Dillon kept the pressure on, muscling his way back to the lead on lap 14. Solomon repaid the favor a lap later regaining the top spot. Dillon got loose during that battle and collected defending champion Dave DeGrave; both were out of the running with flat tires. Solomon held off a hard charging Ford Malvitz to earn a clean sweep with his first ever feature win at the Hill. Malvitz was second, Dan Van Pay placed third, Mike Carter was fourth and Roger Laviolette was fifth.
The red flag flew on lap 7 of the Baby Bomber feature as Scott Schlafke clipped a tire and barreled down the backstretch. Schlafke emerged shaken but was ok. Defending champion Tony Everard held off a persistent TJ Everard to earn the win. DJ Jorgenson took third, fourth went to Kameron Jorgenson and Nick Everard placed fifth.
Jake Valiquette scored a clean sweep in the Vintage Modifieds.
