Brewers dominate to salvage final game against Phillies

Brandon Woodruff and Matt Albers never had to pitch out of the stretch and the Brewers bats came alive on Sunday against the Phillies at home. Milwaukee defeated Philadelphia 9-1. Woodruff took a no-hitter into the sixth inning when the Phillies Andrew Knapp hit a home run. It was the only baserunner Woodruff allowed all game. He struck out 10 in 9 innings of work. Matt Albers struck out 2 in a perfect ninth inning.

The Brewers hit 5 home runs on the day with Ben Gamel starting off scoring with a solo home run in the third. He would hit another homer in the eighth. Yasmani Grandal, Christian Yelich and Hernan Perez also went deep. Woodruff helped his own cause with 2 RBI hits.

Milwaukee begins a two-game series on Memorial Day in Minnesota against the first-place Twins. Monday's game begins at 6:10 PM.
