Voyageurs Prepare for Busy Week Ahead

The Voyageurs will open their stretch of three matches in four days by hosting Forward Madison FC of USL League One. The Voyageurs return to league play with a trip to Kansas to face off with Kaw Valley FC.

Last weekend, GBVFC opened Capital Credit Union Park with a victory over WSA Winnipeg. The offense was led by a trio Northern Illinois Huskies in Nick Markanich, Anthony Markanich and Alex Welch. Defensively, goaltender Jamison Yoder made four saves in the victory, earning the Voyageurs first clean sheet in club history.

The following day, Ben Prange and Jaden Stevenson sustained the Voyageurs offensive momentum to defeat Minneapolis City SC U23’s 2-1. In goal, Owen Johnson made six saves for the Voyageurs.

Forward Madison FC makes the trip to Green Bay with a 2-2-5 record. The Flamingos are looking to climb back toward playoff contention when the team returns to league play on Friday in Orlando. Forward Madison FC, which shares ownership with the Voyageurs, is playing in its first-ever season and garnered national attention when it unveiled its name and crest. Forward Madison is led offensively by Don Smart with two goals.

Following the mid-week matchup, the Voyageurs will make the 670mi trip south to Kansas for a pair of matches against Heartland conference foe Kaw Valley FC. Kaw Valley currently sits atop the Heartland Division standings with a 4-0-1 record and 13 points.
