Padres shut out Brewers

Jhoulys Chacin pitched well in his return but it was the San Diego Padres' Joey Lucchesi who pitched just a little bit better in their 2-0 win over the Milwaukee Brewers Monday.

Chacin's wild pitch in the first inning gave the Padres the early 1-0 lead before Manny Machado registered their second tally of the game with a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning. Chacin recovered to have a decent return from the injured list, striking out seven in just under five innings pitched.

The Brewers collected just four hits on the evening, including Christian Yelich's sixth-inning double that proved to be the only time the team would get into scoring position the entire night.

The Brewers and the Padres battle again Tuesday night in San Diego.
