Jordan Lyles' return to the Milwaukee Brewers organization was a successful one as he earned the win in the team's 4-2 victory over the Oakland Athletics.
Lyles was acquired earlier this week before Wednesday' trade deadline, which yielded the Brewers three additional arms including starter Drew Pomeranz from the San Francisco Giants.
Lorenzo Cain opened the game with a solo shot off pitcher Brett Anderson and Christian Yelich tacked on another tally on a 3rd inning double. The A's would respond in the bottom half of the third to cut the lead in half, but Mike Moustakas was able to push it out again to a two-run margin on a RBI ground out. With the lead back to just one run, Ben Gamel scored on a wild pitch to give the Brewers a much-needed insurance run. Josh Hader nailed down his 24th save of the season in the ninth.
The rubber match for the three game series in Oakland begins at 2:37 p.m.
