Safety of players number one reason for switch to 8-man

The Sturgeon Bay High School football team will take the field this upcoming season but they will do it with a few less players. Due to the number of players who went out for the sport this year, the Sturgeon Bay High School football team will be switching from the traditional 11-man football to 8-man. Athletic Director Todd Meikle says the safety of the players comes first and that is the reason why the switch is happening so quickly. Meikle also says he hopes the school can switch back to 11-man in the future but he is also okay with staying at 8-man to build the program back up.

Meikle is currently working towards rescheduling the upcoming games. The full Sturgeon Bay High School football schedule will be announced at a later date.
