Brewers walk it off

The Milwaukee Brewers squeaked by in game one of their three-game home series against the Texas Rangers. First baseman Eric Thames hit a walk-off solo homerun in the 9th inning to give the Brewcrew a 6-5 victory. Josh Hader was credited with his 2nd win on the season and Rangers reliever Emmanuel Clase picked up his first loss on the season. The Brewers and Rangers will continue their series on Saturday, August 10th, Adrian Houser is scheduled to take the mound for the Brewers and he will go up against Rangers RHP Pedro Payano. First pitch is scheduled for 6:10 P.M.

In a front-office move, the Brewers have option infielder Travis Shaw to Triple-A San Antonio and recalled utility man Hernan Perez. Shaw is batting .162 AVG with only 6 HRs on the season. To make room for Perez on the 40-man roster, Milwaukee DFA pitcher Burch Smith.
