Sturgeon Bay football begins first 8-man season

The Sturgeon Bay High School football team took the field competitively in 8-man football for the first time. Due to a low turnout and concern for the safety of the players Athletic Director Todd Meikle made the tough decision to forfeit the team’s 11-man football schedule and apply to play 8-man football this season. The team participated in a 4 team scrimmage at Sevastopol on August 16th against Sevastopol, Gibraltar and Algoma. Head coach Jim Adams says the transition has gone well and the only big difference so far has been the flow of the game.

The team has rescheduled games for the following dates: September 6th at Oakfield, September 20th against Wisconsin Heights, and the Homecoming game on September 27th against Algoma. The full season schedule will be released at a later date. Sturgeon Bay games will be broadcast on 103.3 FM The Clipper this season.
