Brewers falter offensively for second time this week

First, it was getting shut out Sunday by Texas at home. Last night, the Brew Crew managed just a run on the road in Washington in a 2-1 loss to the Nationals. Squandering quality pitching efforts in a pennant race is never a good idea and you have to hope Milwaukee won’t be saying, “What if?” come the end of the regular season. Milwaukee got on the board first in the top of the third inning, only for Washington to even it later that inning. The Brewers’ lone run of the game came courtesy of a solo shot from shortstop Orlando Arcia, his 13th homer of the year.

The game remained knotted at one until the bottom of the eighth. Junior Guerra walked Trea Turner to lead off the inning. Turner came around to score on a double by third baseman Anthony Rendon. Milwaukee is two games back of St Louis in the NL Central and a game of the second Wild Card position with a record of 63-59. The middle game of this weekend’s series is 7:05 tonight in Washington.
