Brewers fall further out of the playoffs

The worst-case scenario happened for the Brewers on Tuesday night. They themselves lost to the Cardinals 9-4 in St. Louis while the Cubs defeated the Giants 5-3. Milwaukee is now four games behind the Cardinals in the National League Central Division and 3.5 games behind the Cubs for the second Wild Card spot.

The bullpen doomed the Brewers on Tuesday night. Jeremy Jeffress allowed 3 earned runs while not recording an out and Matt Albers served up four runs in just 2/3 of an inning. Milwaukee actually took the lead in the top of the sixth inning. Eric Thames and Orlando Arcia each had an RBI to give the Brewers a 2-1 lead. Jeffress, however, gave the lead right back in the bottom of the inning. The Brewers would add two more runs in the eighth with a Hernan Perez RBI single and Arica sac fly.

The Brewers will try to salvage the final game of the series in St. Louis tonight, first pitch at 6:45.
