Packers nipped by Raiders

Much like the field it played on, the Green Bay Packers came up just short in its 22-21 loss to the Oakland Raiders Thursday night in Winnipeg.

Issues with the turf usually used for Canadian Football League games, which takes place on a wider and longer field and different placement for goalposts, forced almost all potential starters on both teams to sit out due to possible injury concerns. Battling on an 80 yard field, quarterback Tim Boyle started in place of Aaron Rodgers and led the Packers to three first half touchdown drives.  Two of those scores came from 20-plus yard passes to Trevor Davis and Jake Kumerow respectively. The Packers would not score again after taking a 21-10 into the half.  The Raiders scored a touchdown and a pair of field goals in the second half, with the game-winning kick occurring with just under three minutes in the game.

The Packers will wrap up the exhibition schedule at home next Thursday against the Kansas City Chiefs.
