Gibraltar hosts Chief K Invitational Thursday

An annual rite of the end of summer returns to the woods of Peninsula State Park and the Gibraltar Sports Complex Thursday afternoon as the Chief Kahquados Invite takes place.

Twenty teams will toe the line beginning from Tuesday in four different races beginning at 2 p.m. featuring teams coming to Fish Creek from as close as Sevastopol and as far as Mauston. Both the boys varsity and girls varsity races will crown new champions after Gibraltar's Evan Henry and Denmark's Leah Kralovetz have since graduated.

Teams with local ties participating in Thursday's meet include Gibraltar, Southern Door, Sevastopol, Algoma, Kewaunee, and Sturgeon Bay.

Luxemburg-Casco will also get into race action on Thursday when they head to the Two Rivers Invitational.
