Stenzel, Dean top local finishers at Chief K Invitational

A rainy morning turned into a bright late summer day in Fish Creek as twenty teams competed in the Chief Kahquados Invitational Thursday afternoon. Teams representing the peninsula included Algoma, Kewaunee, Sturgeon Bay, Sevastopol, Southern Door, and Gibraltar. Sevastopol junior Olivia Stenzel was the top local finisher in the varsity girls race with a time just over 20:50. Stenzel says it was great to be in a race again as she officially began her quest to break the 20-minute mark in the 5K distance.

Southern Door senior Sam Dean was the top local finisher in the boys' race with a time of 18:36. It is off the pace he set last year when he took third overall with a sub-18-minute 5K time, but Dean says you have to start somewhere.
