Algoma volleyball opens conference play Thursday

Algoma volleyball is riding high coming off an undefeated effort at the Reedsville Invite last Friday. They have improved to 5-4 overall after a 1-4 start. Coach Eric Dean says Algoma's main weakness is the team's lack of size. Combining that with graduations from key members of last year's squad, the result was players in new positions on the court. Volleyball teams only have one week of practice before their match so some of the gelling happened on the court, with growing pains visible. Packerland Conference play opens with the Wolves hosting Sevastopol. The Pioneers are 1-5 on the year. Of those five losses, four have been two-set sweeps. The teams have had no common opponents so far this year. First set starts Thursday at 7 PM.
