L-C, Kewaunee finish together in DePere Invitational

An incoming storm forced Kewaunee and Luxemburg-Casco cross country runners to participate in one of the most unique scenes you will ever see in De Pere Thursday evening.

 

Heavy rains and lightning in the area made finishing one 5k race at the De Pere Invitational questionable let alone four At the suggestion of Green Bay West's most senior head coach, all the schools agreed to have all the kids run together -- boys and girls from the varsity and junior varsity. In the end, Kewaunee and Luxemburg-Casco boys' teams finished in sixth and seventh place respectively while the Luxemburg-Casco girls squad took fourth. The Spartans' Spencer Thiry (18:46) and Kewaunee's James (18:38) and Cameron Cullen (18:58) broke the tape in less than 19 minutes. On the girls' side, Kewaunee's Elizabeth Lamack (23:08) and Luxemburg-Casco's Megan Vandermause (23:10) were their team's top finishers.
