Algoma volleyball sweeps Sevastopol Thursday

Each set got progressively more competitive Thursday night at Algoma High School as the Wolves broomed Sevastopol 25-10, 25-14, 25-17. That may be the only positive takeaway for the Pioneers who fell to 1-6 on the season. Algoma is 6-4, winners of five straight. Thursday's win was a true team effort. Sydney Zimmerman led the Wolves at the net with 16 kills. Captain Jacklyn Dean had 16 assists offensively to go with seven service aces. She was active on defense, picking up three blocks and 15 digs. Setter Hanna Weise had seven aces and 22 overall service points. She added 10 kills as well for a complete effort on offense. Wiese racked up 14 digs on defense. Algoma's next matchup is next Thursday against Peshtigo.
