Kewaunee football nips Coleman Friday Night

Kewaunee had to come from behind Friday night against Coleman. Ryan Carmichael found sophomore Benjamin Heim from ten yards out for the go-ahead score in the fourth quarter. The Storm added a two-point conversion to take a three-point lead which held up as the final score 21-18. It was Heim's first varsity game and he showed up on the stat sheet in a big way, 8 grabs for over 100 yards in total. Carmichael was 13-22 for 167 yards and two touchdowns. He also threw an interception. On the ground, Owen Kudick led the way for the Storm with 140 yards but Jack Severin picked up the rushing touchdown. Severin gained 77 yards on seven carries.

Coleman was on the board first, Cayden Bintz to Tyler Blanchard from five yards out. The Cougars did not convert for two. Before the end of the first, Severin notched his rushing touchdown to make it 7-6 Kewaunee after one. Carmichael completed a 5-yard touchdown pass to Jason Selner but missed the extra point. At the half, it was Kewaunee up 13-6.

The only score of the third was a 29-yard scamper by Coleman's Zach Cops. The Cougars failed on another two-point try and Kewaunee clung to a 13-12 lead. In the fourth, Coleman took its first lead on a 4-yard run by QB Cayden Bintz to make it 18-13 Cougars before Kewaunee's comeback.
