Milwaukee looked poised for a fast start Friday night in St. Louis riding the momentum of its longest win streak of the season. The Brewers led off the first with a single and a walk to put pressure on Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright immediately. Wainwright got pop outs from Mike Moustakas and Lorenzo Cain neutralizing the threat. The Cardinals got their offense going in the bottom of the third, and they did not leave men stranded. First baseman Paul Goldschmidt hit a grand slam making it 4-0 Red Birds. Goldschmidt added a second home run in the sixth inning, a three-run shot, and St. Louis found a way to scratch out three other runs to make it a 10-0 final. The Cubs beat Pittsburgh 17-8 at home meaning Chicago has reclaimed sole possession of the second NL Wild Card slot. Milwaukee falls to 78-69 on the year.
