The Milwaukee Brewers' 2-1 loss to the San Diego Padres could have been a lot of worse as the season continues to close.
Only two run-scoring hits took place during the entire game: a two-run shot in the third inning by the Padres' Seth Meijas-Bream and a solo home run by Keston Hiura in the sixth inning. Dinelson Lamet struck out 14 Brewers hitters, but other than that Milwaukee starter Adrian Houser nearly matched the Padres' right-hander.
While the Brewers slipped in the NL Central race because of a Cardinals win earlier in the day, the Cubs offense fell silent again as they lost their game. The Brewers remain tied for the second wild-card spot and 1.5 games behind the Washington Nationals.
