Sevastopol defense leads team to victory

Last week the Sevastopol High School football offense exploded for 38 points in the second half and this week it was the Pioneer defense leading them to victory. Sevastopol shut out Gillett in the first half and then had two big red zone stops in the second half. The Pioneers defeated the Tigers 16-6 in a game broadcast on 104.1 WRLU and DoorKewauneeHighSchoolSports.com.

Sevastopol scored both of their touchdowns in the second quarter. Triston Beauchamp threw a 30 yard touchdown to Logan Beyer and an 18 yarder to Spencer Evenson on a fourth down play. They converted both of their two point conversions. Gillett finally got on the board on the first drive of the third quarter. The Tigers' freshman quarterback Derek Block ran for a touchdown.

Sevastopol mostly went to a ball-control clock-killing offense in the second half.

The Pioneers have now won two in a row after beating Wausaukee 46-34 last week. They'll go for their third straight victory next Friday when they host Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas. The game will be on 104.1 WRLU and DoorKewauneeHighSchoolSports.com with the pregame show starting at 6:30 PM and kickoff at 7.
