Milwaukee dropped the first game of a weekend series at Colorado, 11-7. The Rockies made the most of their scoring opportunities. Colorado pounded out a seven-run sixth inning and three more in the seventh. Milwaukee finished the game with three more hits than Colorado but fell short on the scoreboard. Rockies pinch hitter Ramiel Tapia provided the dagger with a grand slam.
The Cardinals also lost, falling 8-2 to the Chicago Cubs in St. Louis. That means the Crew still trail in the NL Central by one game.
