Algoma football looks to finish season strong

Algoma High School's football team is now 6-1 on the season and winners of four straight, but Head Coach Wade Vandervest says it is too soon to proclaim the program's first eight-player football season a success.

Algoma is not facing the same level of competition its last two games that it saw for homecoming against Gibraltar. The Vikings were state-ranked before being manhandled by Algoma last week. The Wolves ran for over 420 yards averaging almost 10 yards per carry as a team. The St. Mary's Zephyrs enter Friday's contest at 1-5 and next weekend's opponent, Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah, is 3-3.
