Spartans fall to Mustangs 6-0 in OT on WBDK

In a defensive-dominated game, the Luxemburg-Casco Spartans lost in overtime to the Little Chute Mustangs 6-0 at the Luxemburg-Casco Sports Complex.  With less than ideal field conditions, both teams relied heavily on their rushing attacks all evening long.  The Spartans had numerous opportunities in the first half to get on the board, including a missed field goal in the first quarter and quarterback Matt Cravillion was stopped at the one yard line as time expired in the first half.

Both teams played a field position game in the second half with the Spartans getting down to the Little Chute 15 yard line in the final minute only to lose ten yards on two plays before kicker John Larson slipped and missed a 40 yard field goal at the end of regulation.
In the overtime, Mustang running back Jacob Debruin scored on a two yard run to give the Mustangs the 6-0 lead.  The Spartans could not muster any positive yardage on their first three plays in overtime and a desperation pass on 4th down by Owen Deprez fell short in the end zone to end the game.

The Spartans outgained the Mustangs 261-184 in total yards as Cravillion and Reece Worachek combined for 189 yards in rushing but it was not enough as Little Chute defense bended but did not break all night.

Luxemburg-Casco (3-4, 3-5 overall) will now travel to Wrightstown next Friday in a must-win game to keep their slim playoff hopes alive.
