Algoma football wraps up season on road

Algoma High School's football team ends their first eight-player season on the road Friday night at Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah. Elkhart Lake enters the contest 4-4 and features a unique mascot. It may be the only time in program history that the Algoma Wolves have had to take on a team calling themselves the Resorters. As their record would suggest, it has been an up-and-down season for Elkhart Lake but they have strung together three consecutive wins at one point. The Resorters boast an upset win over Oakfield, a state-ranked team at the time. They also played Newman Catholic tough, losing 28-14.

Algoma's only loss was to Newman Catholic and have rolled since. Last week at St. Mary Catholic the Wolves gave up the first score of the game and followed it up with 54 unanswered. At 7-1, it has been a very successful transition to eight-player football for the Wolves.
