Algoma football gets Week Nine shutout

Algoma High School's football team ended the year with a familiar result Friday night, another shutout. The Wolves defeated Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah 32-0 to finish the season with eight wins to just one loss. Algoma High School's enrollment is too big to qualify for the eight-player football postseason but the Wolves rank in the top 5 in the state according to multiple polls.


Algoma's offense didn't pour it on in Week Nine like so many contests this year. The scoring trickled in. Running back Jordan Deringer threw to Chase Peronto on a trick play in the first quarter for 49 yards and a touchdown. Deringer contributed both the touchdowns in the second quarter as well. He ran it in from 14 and 39 yards respectively. . Algoma got another TD run from Deringer in the fourth and capped the scoring off with a Brett Benesh big play.Deringer finished with 167 yards rushing total.
