The Green Bay Phoenix women's basketball team hopes to start a new conference championship streak when they open the season Thursday with an exhibition contest against Michigan Tech.
The Phoenix earned the spot of preseason co-favorite along with last year's conference champion Wright State when those honors were announced last week. Guard Frankie Wurtz was named to the conference's first-team. The Phoenix still enter the season in unfamiliar territory as they enter the season not as the defending conference champion for the first time in 20 years. They will also have a second exhibition game at the Kress Event Center on October 30th against UW-Oshkosh before traveling to Mount Pleasant, Mich. to battle Central Michigan in the regular-season opener. Thursday's exhibition against Michigan Tech begins at 7 p.m.
