Kewaunee falls to Chilton 41-26 on WBDK

The Kewaunee Storm’s season came to end on a bitterly cold Friday evening as the Chilton Tigers pulled away late to come away with a 41-26 victory in Kewaunee.

The Division 5 Level 2 playoff game started out very similar to last week for the Storm as they fell behind early 13-0.  Chilton’s star running back Gavin Lisowe scored on long runs of 80 and 97 yards as the Tigers took a 19-13 in the first half before the Storm scored on a Ryan Carmichael 1 yard run to recapture the lead 20-19 at the intermission.

The Storm suffered a setback when running back Owen Kudick left the game late in the second quarter with an apparent shoulder injury and did not return.

The third quarter is when the turning point occurred.  Kewaunee took over after a fumble at the Tiger 15 yard line but was stopped on a fourth and one at the five.  Chilton then went on a long 95-yard drive to score on the final play of the third quarter to take a 27-20 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Tigers kept the momentum going by scoring twice more to take a commanding 41-20 lead with just 5:34 left in the game.  Kewaunee managed to score on a 1-yard pass from Carmichael to Max Hanrahan but it was not enough at Chilton (9-2) will now advance to take on #1 seed Amherst next Friday in a level 3 playoff in Amherst.  Kewaunee (9-2) finishes a successful season having claimed the MONLP Conference championship with a 5-0 record.
