The University of Wisconsin men's basketball team is trying for its first win of the season Friday night at home. On Tuesday, the Badgers dropped their season opener by two points in overtime against (20) Saint Mary's. The Badgers are a young team again on the hardwood, just one senior, which means a sluggish start would not be a surprise.
Friday's game is against the Eastern Illinois Panthers though. The Panthers were 14-18 overall a year ago and are tabbed to finish sixth in the Ohio Valley Conference. Eastern Illinois enters the game 0-1 on the season falling Tuesday at Texas Tech 85-60. Eastern Illinois runs four guards on the court at a time giving Wisconsin a distinct size advantage. Wisconsin shot a respectable 42.3 percent in their opening contest. If the Badgers can shoot like that Friday and pick up a high-percentage bucket or two off of an offensive rebound, a high-scoring night might be in store.
